The Eco Spring Cleaning Checklist - No Harsh Chemicals Needed!

As you have already guessed, spring cleaning is no easy task and requires some planning and preparation. The best place to start is with the list of utensils you need.

Here is our checklist of everything you need for a natural eco spring cleaning:

  • Cleaning cloths orsponges: one for the kitchen, one for smooth surfaces, one for the bathroom and a separate one for the toilet.
  • Duster: for cobwebs and dust on door and window frames.
  • Bucket: for the cleaning water, a matching mop would be beneficial.
  • Floor cleaner: for shiny floors all over the house.
  • Kitchen cleaner: as the name suggests, a versatile helper for your kitchen.
  • Glass cleaner: for windows, mirrors and any reflective surface.
  • Vacuum Cleaner and bag (if necessary): for carpets and dusty floors.
  • Bathroom cleaner: we declare war on limescale. At least until it reappears.
  • Baking soda: combined with vinegar it becomes an unbeatable pipe cleaner.
  • Vinegar: for all the hard dirt that has built up.
  • Detergent: for spring-cleaning clothes and textiles

Let the cleaning begin!

It's best to start with one room and work your way up step by step until all you have left is the hallway.

This Applies To All Rooms

Dusting - Spring Cleaning

  • Start with the big parts first and focus on the details after. This means tidying up and sorting out the room at the beginning, while putting away the missed winter decorations. Cleaning thoroughly while paying attention to small details will make much more sense after.
  • Use a duster totackle all dust before you start cleaning wet.
  • Cleanwindows and mirrors in all rooms with an environmentally friendly glass cleaner.
  • Once all of the above is done, take your environmentally friendly floor cleaner, andmop the room thoroughly.Vacuum for the last time once the floor is dry to make sure everything is 100% fresh and clean!

Prepare the Children's Rooms And Bedrooms For Spring

Spring Cleaning - Children toys

  • Sort out: Broken or unused toys - You cannot believe how fast they outgrow them! By doing that, you have already started tidying things up!
  • Clothes: Winter clothes can be slowly put away. No longer fitting or desired items can be sorted out to donate for example! You now have the space for your spring and summer wardrobe.
  • By the way, many things can beresold on various platforms. Would you like to know more about this topic? Leave us a comment at the end of the article.
  • Bed: Strip the bed, wash the pillow and blanket with environmentally friendly detergents, turn over the mattress and put on fresh sheets.

The Bathroom To-Do List

Spring Cleaning - Bathroom

  • Cupboards: Sort your items out. What is no longer usable? Is there something I can pass to someone else? What do I need to use up soon?
  • Clean allglass surfaces with an environmentally friendly glass cleaner.
  • Clean thoroughly thewashbasin, taps, shower, bathtub and toilet. Our bathroom cleaner makes it super easy, because it cleans all the areas. We never lost a battle against limescale!
  • Focus on thetiles and grout of the wall.
  • Cleaning drains: A mixture of baking soda and vinegar helps here. First pour the baking soda into the drain and add a little vinegar after. It's the perfect combination to naturally clean your pipes. Let it do its magic for a few minutes and then rinse with plenty of hot water.
  • Give thewashing machine and dryer a thorough cleaning: Again, vinegar can be used to clean the machines in an environmentally friendly way.
