That also means: Bikini season is open! That’s why we created a little guide for you showing you how to take care of your favourite bikini.
To avoid stains that cannot be removed by washing, always apply your sunscreen half an hour before putting on your bikini. By this, your sunscreen gets enough time to be absorbed by your skin and won’t rub off on your bikini so easily.
After swimming, always rinse your bikini with cold tap water as salt and chlorine can harm its fibers.
Before washing your bikini, take a look at the care label attached to it which tells you how to wash it and at which temperature.
When washing your bikini by hand instead of putting it into the washing machine, less friction is created and it can be washed more gently. Be sure to wash it with cold water and to use a mild washing detergent. However, if you wish to put in into the washing machine, we have some tips for you as well:
Washing your bikini too often can strain it as it mostly consists of polyester, elastic lycra or similar fabrics. When washing it too often, the included elastane can be harmed and the bikini loses it’s form. Therefore, only wash it as often as necessary and use a mesh wash bag which reduces the friction. If your bikini has pearls or other little pieces on it, the bag also prevents them from getting into your machine and protects it from damage.
Harsh washing detergents can harm the fibers of your bikini. Therefore, pay attention to using a mild alternative without harmful chemicals.
The beautiful weather tends to hand out the laundry (so your bikini as well) in the sun so it gets dry very quickly. However, direct solar radiation can make the colour of your bikini fade as quickly as well, which is why you better hang out your favourite garments in the shade or inside.
We hope that this guide was helpful for you and that your favourite bikini will last for a very long time.
